Description

The author, together with the main character, the bee Zuzu, decides to travel to the distant jungles of Brazil and Japan and, along with the black bees, find honey in the African desert. Zuzu wants to help the seriously ill Ilzite, who can only be saved by a miracle and nine different types of honey.
The heroine Zuzu does not obtain honey merely by flying over a linden or hawthorn tree. For the author, gathering honey for the little girl is a way to introduce the reader not only to many distant countries but also to their nature, climate, and religion. For example, in India, near the sacred Ganges River, the large statue of Buddha opens a stone lotus flower so that the bee can receive miraculous nectar. In London, Zuzu does not get nectar from the holly presented by the queen as the main prize at a flower exhibition, but in a completely unexpected way.
Flying over castles adorned with towers, the bee sees the emblem of Great Britain, consisting of two lions, a unicorn, a rose, and a thistle. And it is the thistle, upon hearing the bee’s story, that allows Zuzu to drink from the cup. Even in cold Lapland, reindeer carry Zuzu to frozen bogs, whose violet flowers become sources of nectar.
